Basic Manners – S.T.A.R. Puppy®

The American Kennel Club (AKC) S.T.A.R. Puppy is a program that gets dog owners and their puppies off to a good start. STAR stands for Socialization, Training, Activity, Responsibility, and is for puppies under one year of age.

This is a great opportunity for your dog to socialize with other dogs and people. You’ll get information on puppy-raising questions including house-training, chewing, and the most effective way to teach practical skills such as coming when called.

Skills taught in this class include:

  1. Sit
  2. Down
  3. Walk on leash
  4. Come
  5. Stay
  6. Stays with another person
  7. Take a Toy away
  8. Hug the pup
  9. Food Refusal
  10. Handle for grooming

Note: This class is generally geared toward puppies 6 months and under; if your puppy will be over 6 months at the start of class, contact us for the best option for your pup! (509-946-7297)
